Spring 1 Madness
Hello Keller Class!
Let me start off by saying a big well done to Keller Class. We are at the top of the league table for Doodle Maths! This means that we have the most number of children in the green zone out of the whole school. What a fantastic end to Spring 1.
This week we have been celebrating Safer Internet day. Check out our previous blog for information about what we have been doing.
We have also been celebrating Children's Mental Health week. The theme this year is Stay Connected. We spoke about all the people we are connected with via an invisible string, and how we feel when we are around these people (or cats in Miss Sturman's case!). We practised mindfulness and keeping peaceful when completing mindfulness activities.
In our topic lessons this half-term we have learnt about the UK's countries and their capital cities and explored London's key human and physical features. In Spring 2 we will look a little more closely into the history of London, particularly The Great Fire of London! If you would like to look into the Great Fire of London ahead of Spring 2, BBC Bitesize has some excellent videos!
In Spring 2 science we will continue our topic Animal Planet and we will begin learning about the 5 different animal groups.
I have added some Doodle Maths assignments to complete over the holiday to keep your brains ticking over. Please also continue working towards your Silver reading award.
Reminder: We will be hosting a Phonics Screening Check meeting at 3.30pm on Tuesday 21st February. Click here for more information.
Have a wonderful rest Year 1 and see you on Monday 20th February!
