This week we are sharing one of our all-time favourite stories... The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

This will help us explore our big idea question's which are:

  • What is the lifecycle of a butterfly?
  • What is symmetry?

Have a listen to the animated story below:

Here's the vocabulary that we will be sharing and talking about (and encouraging the children to use independently)

We've been making lots of mini-beasts at our make and do table, can you have a go at making one at home? Here are some ideas:

With butterflies being symmetrical, we will be exploring what symmetry means. Check out these symmetry pictures:

Can you spot any symmetry when out and about or even in your house?

  • (F2) - keep up with star collecting on doodle maths- we are no longer in last place on the whole school table but 5th out of 7- well done! Let's try to climb even higher for next week!
  • We should be getting some tiny caterpillars delivered this week, so the children can observe the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly first hand (before releasing the butterflies into the wild). We'll post updates on tapestry πŸ¦‹
