Amazing Artists!
Check out Year 1's seasonal art project
Year 1 has learnt a new art technique called marbling.
This is a fun and creative technique which uses shaving foam and food colouring to create swirls and interesting patterns!
We all had great fun getting messy with this technique and seeing what amazing patterns we could create.
After practising marbling, we had a good think about which season we wanted to capture in our artwork, and considered which colours we would need to portray this season.
We let our background dry before adding our tree template and using tissue paper to layer the leaves.

Other special work we have been doing:
- In science, we have been investigating the structure of flowers and trees. We have learnt the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees and explored the school grounds to see which type of trees we have in school.
- In literacy, we have been writing a losing tale in the style of The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. I have been so impressed with the children's creativity and interesting vocabulary during this unit!
- In Geography, we have learnt about the different types of weather in the UK and learnt about the climate around the world. This week, we will be using our class weather station to record what the temperature and rain fall is like over the week so we can decide which day had the best weather.
Take a look at our weather station before and after school!
