Year 3- Autumn 1 Key Information

Key information for Year 3...

Hello!

Welcome back to the Autumn term and welcome to Year 3! It’s always so exciting to start the new school year with new, eager children who are ready to learn and take on a new academic year! I thought I'd create a blog based on expectations, PE/swimming days and our curriculum coverage this half-term.

What are the expectations in Year 3?

- To be reading at least 3 x a week at home and for home schoolbooks to be signed every week. You could even attend reading lair if this suits your routine.

- For children to remain in their green zone on doodlemaths and doodlespell (this is approximately 40 minutes every week). The children can find their new passwords and logins in the front of their home school book.

- For children to take part in the Bronze Reading challenges (these can be found at the back of your child’s home school book).

- Checking the class blog regularly to see what we’re doing in school.

When are the PE and swimming days this half term?

- Year 3’s take part in swimming in the Autumn term every Thursday afternoon. Click here for more information

PE sessions are  with Miss Robinson on a Tuesday afternoon. It is important their kits are labelled and brought in so your child can take part in these activities.

are you able to spare some time to support y3?

We are looking for adults that would kindly be able to support us on a Thursday afternoon for swimming. This includes walking the children to Keyworth pool with other adults and walking the children back to school. If you think you can support with this, please let me know/contact the office.

We are also hoping to visit the Keyworth Library. This is a lovely opportunity to walk the children to the library, spend some time in the library with your child ( share a story together) and walk the children back to school. We are hoping to do this on Tuesday 10th September 14.15-3.00pm. Again, if you think you are able to support with this, please let us know.

What will my child be learning about this half-term?

I have managed to create a document at the bottom of this blog to highlight the main areas we will be covering this half term!

This also includes a knowledge organiser for our Geography unit 'Extreme Earth', a Science knowledge organiser for 'animals including humans' and a knowledge organiser for our French unit.
