Year 4's Exciting Start to the Spring Term

Year 4 has had a fantastic start to the spring term, diving into all our new topics. Here's a glimpse of what we've been up to:

Science

In Science, we've been exploring electricity—where it comes from and how some of our electrical appliances, like mains-powered and battery-powered devices, generate it. We've also learnt about the components needed to make a simple circuit and even created our very own!

Music

This term in Music, we are exploring the theme tune to The Pink Panther. We are also:

  • Listening for elements in music that establish mood and character.
  • Exploring sounds on classroom instruments to create desired effects.
  • Discussing how sounds are created and learning about an instrument’s timbre.

Geography

In Geography, we have begun learning about  our topic "Road Trip to the USA." We have been honing our map skills to locate the United States on a global scale. The children are also learning to identify key geographical features and understand the relative position of America in the world.

English

In English, the children have started exploring our model text, Poppy Waldo and the Giant. Below is our story map. See if your child can remember the story using the map.
