School Council at Work – Sharing Ideas and Making Improvements

School council ideas...
At our school, we believe in the power of student voices. That’s why our School Council meetings are often held during assemblies, giving everyone within the School Council a chance to hear about the exciting things happening in our school and the ways we can grow even further.
In recent meetings, we’ve focused on some fantastic topics, starting with our School Council Suggestion Box. It’s an important way for students to share their ideas and feedback, but we realised that not everyone knows where to find it or how to use it. To fix this, we’re launching a campaign to promote the suggestion box and make sure every student feels confident contributing their ideas.
Another hot topic of discussion has been how to make lunchtimes even better. We want lunchtime to be a time everyone enjoys, whether they’re playing, relaxing, or chatting with friends. The council is exploring new ways to improve this part of the day to ensure it’s fun and inclusive for everyone.
We’ve also talked about clubs. While we have many exciting activities on offer, students suggested we add more non-sporty clubs to the mix. We’re thrilled to announce a knitting club for Year 4 starting after half-term! This will give students a chance to learn a new skill and enjoy some creative time together. Additionally, our popular craft club for Year 1 continues every Wednesday, bringing joy and creativity to our youngest students.
We’re so proud of our School Council for their great ideas and commitment to making our school even better. By working together, we can make sure everyone feels heard, valued, and excited about school life.
Keep those suggestions coming – we can’t wait to see what improvements we’ll make next!
