What an amazing end to spring 1!
Well, here we are again at the end of another amazing and jam-packed half-term, and we have had the most fabulous day.
A Magical Virtual Visit from Author Jenny McLachlan
Our day began with an exciting writing session, as the children put the finishing touches on their independent stories about meeting a mystical creature. Their creativity was flowing, setting the perfect stage for what was to come next!
Later in the morning, we had the incredible opportunity to welcome Jenny McLachlan, the author of The Land of Roar, for a virtual visit. She captivated the children as she spoke about her latest book, Dragon Riders, sharing what inspired her to write and even reading an exclusive extract.
One of the highlights of the session was a fun and interactive quiz, where the children discovered which house they would belong to in a dragon rider school. They were thrilled to imagine themselves as part of this magical world! Jenny then guided them through a step-by-step dragon-drawing activity, helping them create their very own dragons, complete with unique characteristics and powerful names.
To wrap up the visit, Jenny answered the children’s questions in a lively Q&A session— attended by a very special guest, her pet rabbit! It was a truly inspiring experience that left the children buzzing with excitement and eager to continue their own storytelling adventures.
A huge thank you to Jenny McLachlan for such a fantastic and engaging session!
An Afternoon to Shine: Our Parents Showcase
In the afternoon, the children had their moment to shine during our wonderful Parent Showcase. They were excited to share all the fantastic learning they’ve been doing this term, from the torches they designed and built to the animations they created—and, of course, their incredible writing!
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us. Your support made the event even more special, and it was truly an amazing afternoon celebrating the children’s hard work and creativity.
