Fieldwork In Y4 - Nottingham City centre
See what year 4 got up to on their recent feildwork trip
This week, Year 4 took an exciting trip to Nottingham city centre as part of their geography learning. We have been learning about what makes a good geographer, focusing on identifying the human and physical features of Nottingham.
The day began with a walk to the nearest bus stop, where we caught the Keyworth Connection. While on the bus, the children played a bingo-style spotting game, identifying landmarks such as The Forest Ground, roundabouts, and Trent Bridge.
After arriving at Nottingham Station, the children used maps to navigate their way to Old Market Square.
Once there, they collected data by counting features such as trams, buildings, trees, and people. They then created sketch maps of their surroundings to enhance their geographical skills.
Back at school, we analysed our findings and used the data to create bar charts, helping us visualise and interpret what we had observed during our trip.
It was a fantastic hands-on experience that helped develop our geographical knowledge and map-reading skills!
The children were absolutely fabulous throughout the trip and were a wonderful representation of KPNS. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and excellent behaviour made the experience even more enjoyable!
