SciTech Week

This week has been SciTech Week for all the schools in the Trust.
In Years 5 and 6, the children were set the task of designing and making a straw plane that would stay in the air for the furthest distance.
Together, we explored the design criteria and the variables that we could change.
The children had one sheet of A4 and one or more art straws. The variable they could change was:
- add a wing
- shorten or lengthen the straw
- add more straws
We then went into the hall to test how far our planes would fly. Each group had a practise throw, then three test throws. The winners were Basil and Archie, followed by Finley, Max and Riley.
After testing our planes, we then had to record our results on a line graph and draw our conclusions.
On Friday afternoon, there was a grand final during Golden Eggs assembly. Unfortunately, we were pipped to the post by Aiden in Year Six who will represent KPNS UKS2 at Heyman this Friday.
