World book day!
We have had the most special day celebrating World Book Day!
At KPNS this year our focus for world book day was poetry, so because we love reading here in school the children have spent the day visiting different teachers. While visiting them they have been introduced to new poems and read lots of different ones and even created their own poems, as well as done lots of fun activities.
We started our exciting day with an assembly with Mrs King where she introduced children to our poetry theme. We spoke about what poetry is and looked at different examples. We then worked together to create our very own school poem. The children wrote their own sentences and as a class linked them all together and then all the year group joined together to make a huge whole school poetry paper chain! Keep an eye out round school because it will be displayed somewhere soon.
As part of our classroom activity we looked at the poem eye spy with my rainbow eye and then created our own colour poems using the rainbow colours. We then went off and created a hanging rainbow with the poem displayed on the back.
