We learnt all about the advantages that tourism can bring to a town, such a bringing new developments, business and cultures, as well as helping to boost the economy. Then we discussed some of the disadvantages, such as the environmental impact: litter, pollution and footpath erosion. 

The children then chose a side to debate in favour of, wrote their arguments in pairs and presented to the class. They were fantastic at respecting others and listening, as well as coming up with counterarguments and eventually we took a vote - lots of children had been persuaded by the arguments of others and in the end we voted against tourism developments in our town!
