Anglo-Saxon and Viking day

I am excited to share that Year 4 will be going on a trip to Perlethorpe for an Anglo-Saxon and Viking day on Tuesday, 6th May. This trip will support our "Raiders and Traders" History topic, where we are learning about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and their impact on Britain.
In the morning, we will be based at our Anglo-Saxon House on the fringes of the Danelaw. We will be transported back to the time when King Alfred spoke of a united England. Discover the events of the Saxon invaders, their settlement across the country, and the fall of the Anglo-Saxons in 1066. Learn about their gods, important leaders, Viking invaders, Danelaw, and Wessex village life.
In the afternoon, we will dress up as Viking children and journey to our Long House deep in the woods. Here, we will discover where the Vikings came from and what happened to the Vikings of Britain. We’ll travel through time from their first arrival in 789 to their demise in 1066.
Children should arrive at school at 8:30 am in their school uniform with a waterproof coat and appropriate shoes. Please bring a packed lunch and a water bottle. It is vital that children arrive at school on time as we will be taking a coach to and from the venue. Year 3 will also be taking the same coach for their river trip, while Year 4 will have their Viking and Anglo-Saxon day.
We are looking for volunteers for the day. If you can help, please inform me or the school office.
All payments should be made via Arbor. If you encounter any issues regarding payment, please speak to the school office, as we have support available. All payments should be completed by Friday, 2nd May.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We are very excited about this trip – I know it will be a great day!
