We will be trying different fruits and vegetables and picking our favourites as well as growing some vegetables in our garden!
We will be sharing the story 'I will not ever, never eat a tomato'.... Watch the animation below, are there any foods you don't particularly like or haven't ever tried? Maybe you could try some this week... You never know, you might love them just like Lola!
We will be sharing this fairytale gone wrong- 'Give us a smile Cinderella' - which is all about the importance of looking after our teeth...
Can you have a go at making one of these delicious ice lollies at home? Here are some recipe ideas...
The children are wowing us with their reading and writing skills - keep it up little explorers!
Have a go at this game at home... The children love it in school! Obb and Bob are brothers, and they love to eat snacks! Bob likes snacks with real words on them whereas Obb likes the nonsense alien words!
Here are a few speedy sounds lessons you could watch at home with sounds the children are finding particularly tricky. These are special friends, two letters that make one sound.
Here is a video showing how we spell words using our 'Fred Fingers', we use this strategy to help segment words to hear all the sounds and then pinch the sounds to help us match them to letters when writing.
For our F1 children, have a listen to this Fred Talk game, helping children blend sounds together!
This week we are problem-solving using shapes. One of our weekly challenges is 'What smaller shapes can you use to make a bigger shape?'
Check out this number blocks episode to explore what numbers can make rectangle shapes. Are the numbers even or odd?

Parent Meetings
Published 24/06/22, by Peter CresswellPlease complete the survey at the bottom of this blog!
We hope the parents who were able to attend our meeting last night (23/6/22) found it useful. During the meeting, we shared information to support parents whose children will be starting F2 in September. These meetings are crucial for all parents - if parents cannot regularly support their child's learning, they are likely to fall behind.
Given how important these meetings are, we were disappointed that relatively few parents were able to attend. The survey below is designed to help us find ways to organise meetings that more parents can attend. We would be grateful if all parents could complete the survey.
Many thanks

OUR NEW BIG IDEA: READY, STEADY, GROW!
Published 24/05/22, by Kerry InglisWe are very excited to announce our final topic before the summer holidays commence.
Our topic is 'Ready Steady Grow '... Your child will take part in practical activities to explore where food comes from. They will learn what seeds and plants need to grow and grow a variety of plants. They will explore what constitutes a healthy lifestyle, including eating fruit and vegetables, exercise and the importance of teeth brushing. They will find out about life on a farm and about baby animals.
Supporting your child at home
- Visit your local library and find books about farms to share.
- Visit a local farm or farm shop (Harker's farm shop is lovely, it has a viewing area where the children can spot lots of different animals)
- Watch Cbeebies episodes of 'Down on the Farm'
- Make a shopping list together and go to the shops to buy the food. Look at the labels- where has the food travelled from - is it from the UK or somewhere else?
- Grow some quick growing plants or make a cress head.
- Talk about healthy foods.
- Share and discuss the 'Big Idea' resource below (also attached as a PDF for clearer viewing).
