We have been exploring Diwali as part of our 'Celebration' scheme of learning in RE.
What better way to learn about celebrating Diwali than to actually participate in some of the celebration activities?!

Throughout the afternoon, Year 1 looked at some of the ways people celebrate Diwali, then spent some time taking part in these activities, e.g.  Making rangoli patterns, designing mehndi patterns and learning the story of Rama and Sita. 

Another way people celebrate Diwali is through dance!

Later on in the afternoon, Year 1 & 2 had the pleasure of inviting a visitor in to teach us some traditional Indian dance moves. 

We had a fantastic time and really got into the groove and rhythm of the dance.
