Science Week 2024
Science Week 2024 - Time
Whole Class Experiment - Weather over Time
The focus of Science Week this year is 'time'. In year 1, we are observing the weather over 1 week then we will be talking about how the weather changes over time.
We have been thinking about what we can see, hear and feel, and have started to look at using a thermometer to record the temperature throughout the day.
Marble Runs
Thank you to everyone who made a marble run. The next round of the competition will be taking place on Friday afternoon.
Famous Scientists
Science week also gives us the opportunity to learn about famous scientists from the past and present. On Monday, we learnt about a famous computer scientist called Ada Lovelace. Ada Lovelace is believed to be the first person to come up with a language for computer programming. For our activity, we channelled our inner Ada Lovelace and tried programming the beebots to follow our instructions on the iPads. As a challenge, we gave our instructions to someone else to check that our programming was accurate.
