Learning to type

Take a peek at what we've been up to in Year One so far this term.

In computing, Year One has been learning how to navigate a keyboard and type sentences. We had a scavenger hunt around the classroom to find objects with text on them. We were shocked at how many resources had printed text on them, and decided we should learn how to type too!

We located the important keys on the keyboard and then had a go at typing our names. We needed to know how to create a capital letter, and how to delete something if we made a mistake!

Once we were confident with the basic keys, we typed out a simple sentence. As a challenge, Mrs Mulcahy taught us how to use the 'Enter' key to start typing a new sentence on a new line.

Next lesson, we will use our new skills to type out a short story.
