New term information

This term we will be continuing to read 'The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark.'

Our other class text this term will be 'The Castle the King Built'.

English - We will be writing suspense stories based around our new Talk for Writing text 'Kassim and the Greedy Dragon' - we will be learning about how to build up suspense within our writing as well as developing our descriptive writing techniques. 

Maths - We will be learning all about money and how to make and find different amounts, as well as looking at word problems and finding amounts of change given.

Later in the half term we will be moving onto multiplication and division, so get practising your 2s, 5s and 10s times table! 

History - We are continuing learning about monarchs from British history and the impact they have had on our lives today. 

Science - We will be learning about different materials, their uses and their properties.

DT - We are learning about flags and coats of arms, as well as what different colours and symbols mean. We will then be designing and making our own developing our textiles and sewing skills.

PE - Our PE days will be WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY. Please make sure children have got the correct kit in school on these days. See Miss Robinson's PE kit blog post if you are unsure of what items your child needs. 

RE - We are learning about Christian stories. 

Computing - We will be learning about how to use software to create animations.

JIGSAW - We will be looking at dreams and goals, setting realistic goals and setting ourselves small steps to work towards achieving them!

 

Please remember homework expectations for Year 2 are to read 3 x per week and record this in home school diaries, as well as keeping in the green zone for Doodle Maths and Doodle Spell!

Our spelling rules will be taught in school and assigned on Doodle Spell each week for children to practice, but we do not complete a formal 'test' each week. Below are attached the rules and some of the words we will be learning each week.
