Y3 visit Keyworth library

Y3 visit the library!

This afternoon we experienced our first Y3 trip to Keyworth Library. The rain wasn't going to stop us from reading! Y3 enjoyed their experience and demonstrated fantastic behaviour. They represented KPNS wonderfully in the community.

Once the children arrived, they were greeted by the librarians, who gave us a tour of the library and the different books on offer. Following this, the children were then able to explore the book titles on offer and get stuck into a new book!

To make it special and so that the children can select books to borrow and bring back to school, they have suggested that each child has their own library card. This way, the children will be taught to access the library independently.

How do I set up a membership to the library?

Before the Summer the children were given a membership form . Becoming a member is absolutely FREE! If you haven't already completed this, please complete this online form: Join us - become a library member | Inspire - Culture, Learning, Libraries (inspireculture.org.uk) (you can also go to the library directly to do this). The library will then set up all the children and issue them their own library cards (they will receive 2 cards, one for school and one for home). This means, as well as visiting with school, they can visit at any time with their family too.

If they already have a library card, please still complete the form, and they will provide an additional card for school to use.

All books that are borrowed today by children at school will be kept in a special box in their classroom for them all to enjoy. They will then be returned/ swapped during their next visit. Some children didn't have their library cards today, so the librarians have kept back the books the children have chosen so they can collect these when they bring their library card to the library/sign up for membership. They will keep hold of these books for a week.

Thank you so much to our Y3 adult volunteers who attended the library with us today.

We are very excited to devour our new books over the next few weeks and continue to build upon our love for reading!
