Marvellous Machines IN SPACE!
This week the 'big idea' questions are:
Where do rockets go?
What is an astronaut?
We will be sharing the brilliant story 'Look up'... All about a little girl called Rocket who wants to be the greatest astronaut, star-catcher and space-traveller that ever lived, just like Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space.
We will be talking about what we would pack to go on a space adventure... Just like baby bear in one of our favourite stories 'Whatever Next'...

The children are doing SO WELL with their phonics. Thank you for all of your support at home with this and practising those speedy sounds. Using the sounds the children know well, you could make some CVC words and see if the children can say the sounds and read the word (e.g mat, sad, pin). When we do this in school, we say 'Fred Talk, read the word'. Here is a video of how we teach reading (blending) in Reception.
The sounds we will be learning to read and write this week are:
- To help create our wonderful rockets this week-we would love any donations of cardboard tubes. Thank you :)
- On Thursday 3rd October we will be celebrating National Poetry Day!
